Programme details
This is an academically oriented programme with a duration of three semesters (90 SCT), providing a strong foundation in bioprocess engineering to support research, innovation and the creation of knowledge with industrial impact.

The programme promotes autonomy and analytical thinking through applied research and participation in industry-linked projects. With a focus on sustainability and the development of products and services, it fosters patentable and transferable technological developments, preparing graduates with a forward-looking profile to contribute to industrial development and research in bioprocess engineering in Chile.

Its research areas include Biological Waste Treatment; Modelling, Design and Optimisation of Bioprocesses; and Applied Bioprocess Engineering for Industry.
Who is it for
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Sciences, Applied Engineering, or a professional qualification of equivalent level and content to a Bachelor’s degree of at least eight semesters’ duration.
Entry requirements

Applicants must submit the following documents via the Vice-Rectorate for Postgraduate Studies Application Platform:

– Two letters of recommendation from professionals or academics with experience in fields related to the programme, supporting the applicant’s suitability and potential to undertake the programme.

– Original or certified copy of a Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification, with a level and content equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree of at least eight semesters’ duration.

– Official undergraduate academic transcript, including failed courses and the periods in which courses were taken, as well as the grading scale and the minimum passing grade (original or certified copy).

– Certificate of English language proficiency, where available.

– Birth certificate.

– Curriculum Vitae.

– Institutional sponsorship, where applicable.

For applicants submitting documents issued by foreign institutions, the following must also be considered:

a) A copy of the passport and/or a certified copy of the national identity document (ID).

b) Degree certificates and/or academic qualifications awarded by foreign institutions must be legalised, together with their corresponding academic transcripts, through the Hague Apostille system or the relevant consular authority.

c) Academic transcripts must be accompanied by a certificate of equivalence to the Chilean grading system (scale of 1 to 7, with a passing grade of 4). Alternatively, the original grading scale must be clearly explained, including at least the minimum grade, passing grade and maximum grade, in order for the University of Santiago of Chile to calculate equivalence.

The programme may request additional supporting documents if necessary.

Todas las postulaciones son gestionadas a través de la Vicerrectoría de Postgrado, que recepciona las postulaciones y las deriva a cada Facultad.

¿Qué datos debo proporcionar en mi postulación?

Es importante proporcionar todos los datos y copias escaneadas de la documentación requerida obligatoriamente en el fomulario de postulación online, además de la información específica que requiere cada Programa (ej: certificado de ranking, cartas de recomendación, carta de motivación, etc.)

¿Qué documentos son importantes?

Cada programa tiene requisitos de ingreso. Para hacer la postulación es necesario revisar los requisitos de ingreso del programa y aportar los documentos que son requeridos de forma obligatoria para la postulación.

¿En qué momento debo presentar los documentos originales?

Los documentos originales, o copias debidamente legalizadas deben enviarse una vez aceptada la postulación, para iniciar el trámite de formalización de ingreso de alumno regular.

¿Dónde estamos ubicados?

Nos encontramos en el límite de la Comuna de Santiago y la comuna de Estación Central, a pasos del metro Estación Central y de la estación de ferrocarril y buses interubanos.
