Programme details
The Master’s in Science, specialising in Physics, is an academic programme. Its main aim is to contribute to the initial training of researchers in Physics by providing students with the theoretical tools and methodologies required to support the country’s scientific development.

Its research areas include Condensed Matter; Quantum Optics; High Energy Physics; Gravitation and Mathematical Physics; Earth and Space Sciences; and Materials Science.
Who is it for
This programme is intended for individuals holding a Bachelor’s degree in Physics or in a similar discipline.
Entry requirements

To apply, candidates must submit a letter addressed to the Master’s Programme Director explaining their motivation for pursuing postgraduate studies. Additionally, a letter of recommendation from a professor endorsing the application is required.

These documents can be uploaded in the “Other Documents” section of the online application form (see the applications section). The letter of recommendation may also be sent directly by the referee to the Programme Director.

Once accepted into the programme, candidates must complete their enrolment to obtain student status within the Doctoral Programme.

Admission requirements
Curriculum Vitae, birth certificate, original degree certificate or professional qualification (or a notarised photocopy). The undergraduate programme must have a minimum duration of eight semesters. An original or notarised copy of the undergraduate academic transcript must also be submitted, indicating the semesters or years completed. In cases involving credit transfer, the original or notarised transcript of the validated courses must be provided.

For international applicants, the following must also be included:

A photocopy of the passport and/or a notarised copy of the national identity card, if available.

The academic transcript must include a certified equivalency to the 1 to 7 grading scale used in Chile, issued by the home university. If the university does not issue a certificate of equivalency, the applicant must submit a statement from the university confirming this. In cases of credit transfer, the original or notarised transcript of the validated courses must also be included.

Degree certificates and academic transcripts must be legalised through diplomatic channels or, where applicable, bear the Hague Apostille.

External Scholarships:
Students enrolled in accredited postgraduate programmes may apply for external scholarships, such as those offered by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID). These scholarships are competitive, and their awarding is independent of the University of Santiago.

¿Qué datos debo proporcionar en mi postulación?

Es importante proporcionar todos los datos y copias escaneadas de la documentación requerida obligatoriamente en el fomulario de postulación online, además de la información específica que requiere cada Programa (ej: certificado de ranking, cartas de recomendación, carta de motivación, etc.)

¿Qué documentos son importantes?

Cada programa tiene requisitos de ingreso. Para hacer la postulación es necesario revisar los requisitos de ingreso del programa y aportar los documentos que son requeridos de forma obligatoria para la postulación.

¿En qué momento debo presentar los documentos originales?

Los documentos originales, o copias debidamente legalizadas deben enviarse una vez aceptada la postulación, para iniciar el trámite de formalización de ingreso de alumno regular.

¿Dónde estamos ubicados?

Nos encontramos en el límite de la Comuna de Santiago y la comuna de Estación Central, a pasos del metro Estación Central y de la estación de ferrocarril y buses interubanos.
