Programme details
This programme was created with the aim of offering a space for inter- and transdisciplinary research that integrates reflection and practice within the field of Arts and Humanities. Its main contribution lies in the opportunity to connect diverse approaches and methodologies that enable an in-depth exploration of current aesthetic, cultural, philosophical, and political issues — from a locally situated perspective in dialogue with global discussions, and a critical stance towards the academic context.
The programme features three Research Lines: Memory and Representations; Thought on Bodies, Genders, Affects, and Spatialities and Contemporary Artistic Practices
Who is it for
This programme is aimed at individuals who hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in research fields related to the arts and humanities (such as visual arts, music, theatre, performance, film, design, architecture, literature, history, philosophy, cultural studies, and related areas), awarded by Chilean or foreign universities officially recognised by the State.
Entry requirements

a) Certificate of Professional Title and/or Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree.
b) Academic transcript for undergraduate and, if applicable, Master’s studies as stated in (a), including information on ranking, repeated courses, and the academic periods in which subjects were taken. The transcript must also include the grading scale and minimum passing grade. For international applicants, this must be accompanied by a certificate of equivalence to the Chilean grading scale (from 1 to 7, with 4 as the passing mark). If not available, the transcript must clearly state how the original grading scale is interpreted, including at least the minimum, passing, and maximum grades, so that the University of Santiago can calculate equivalence.
c) Curriculum Vitae.
d) National ID card. For international applicants, a passport and/or national identity document may be submitted.
e) Birth certificate.
f) Two letters of recommendation.
g) Statement of purpose, introducing the applicant and describing their background, as well as their motivation for applying to the programme.
h) Description of the research and/or artistic projects the applicant is interested in developing as part of their thesis.
i) Certificate of intermediate-level English comprehension.

*The programme may request additional documents.
