Programme details
This programme is aligned with a strategic axis of the Institutional Strategic Plan (PEI) and responds to a societal need in Chile. It aims to address the challenge of sustainable energy systems by incorporating perspectives from diverse areas of knowledge.

From an academic standpoint, the programme aims to foster collaboration with both the international academic community and the technical and productive sectors. It promotes the development of scientific and technological knowledge, encouraging collaborative research between academics and students. This joint work is expected to yield tangible research outputs, including scientific articles and patents.
Its research areas include Sustainable Energy Systems Integration and Sustainable Energy Resource Modelling.
Who is it for
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s academic degree and/or a professional title in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or related fields, with a minimum programme duration of eight semesters.
Entry requirements

To apply, the applicant must submit the following documents via the platform established by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Postgraduate Studies:

a) Certificate of Professional Title and/or Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree.
b) Official transcript of undergraduate studies and of the Master's programme if presented under item a), including ranking, repeated courses, and the periods in which courses were taken, as well as the grading scale used and the minimum passing grade.
In the case of international applicants, the transcript must be accompanied by a certificate of equivalency to the Chilean grading system (scale from 1 to 7, with 4 as the passing grade), or otherwise include an explanation of the original grading scale, indicating at least the minimum, passing, and maximum grades, so that the University of Santiago de Chile can calculate the equivalency.
c) Curriculum Vitae.
d) National Identity Card.
International applicants may submit a Passport and/or National Identity Document.
e) Birth certificate.
f) Institutional sponsorship letter, if available.
g) Academic and/or professional letters of recommendation.
Each applicant must submit two academic and/or professional letters of recommendation. These may be provided by experts who can vouch for the applicant’s qualifications and suitability for pursuing the programme. Letters of recommendation must be submitted through the VIPO online application system. If they cannot be submitted via the system, the VIPO must be notified so they may be delivered in a sealed envelope or by another method as instructed by the VIPO and submitted to the person designated to receive them.

In addition, applicants must submit a personal letter outlining their expectations and motivation for joining the programme; evidence of academic writing and/or reading comprehension in English for scientific and technical texts in the field; a profile of research skills that demonstrates their level of specialised knowledge aligned with the programme’s disciplinary focus or related areas; research experience, evidenced by participation in internal or external research projects, or by publications in scientific journals.
